Thoughts on self adornment
Deciding what to wear or how to decorate your anatomy can be a struggle. In part, because we live in a society that mostly filters us by how we look and not by who we are. That judgmental stress leads to the mindset of rather not adorning our shells or criticizing those who opt to use their body as their canvas of expression. Whichever is the case, we cannot forget how natural comes to us to ornate our figure.
Before the start of civilization, hunters and gatherers used stones and parts of animals like teeth, bones, skin and horns as body decoration. They also used to paint their bodies, cover them in mud and even mark them with calculated scars. They were creating an identity, expressing who they were by what they wore. This is the primitive mindset we should aim when confronted with a personal aesthetic dilema. Self adornment is an expression that comes from within, a culture stamped in our DNA. What you put on, should inform about how you feel and to some extent who you are.
